- Phase 1 Problem – Your Personal Problem!
First, you need to understand that, if you don’t have a problem, you can’t start a business! Okay, I know that sounds too ambiguous.
This is what I meant; if you have a problem, either money problem, no house to stay, payroll problem, food problem or whatever it is, it’s your first MOTIVATION that will push you to generate ideas to start your own business either online or offline.
So, if you have a problem right now that is personal to you, it’s normal, nothing is wrong with you.
In fact, it’s a good sign that you will be a successful business owner. How do I know that?
Because, I am confident that you are reading this and you’re looking for a solution to end that problem and being able to provide solution to your personal problem(s).
And this will lead me to the second phase of the problem!
But wait, by now, you ought to have known that, problems are in different phases, that is: your personal problems and others problems! Lol
Okay, I’ve talked about your problem above, it’s time to talk of others problems, because, that’s where a lot of money is!
And if you can solve peoples’ problems, it means you already have a business which can generate massive amount of money for you at the end of the day.
Actually, you can also make money solving your own problems, because, if you can find a way to solve your problem(which you will find out as you read on), you can also make money selling your own solution to others who have the same challenges you’ve overcome.
But, you can’t solve your own problems with your problem, you have to engage in other peoples’ problems(OPP) and find a way to solve it which brings us to the second phase of problems.
- Phase 2 Problem – Other Peoples’ Problems(OPP)
Here, the focus is not on your problem anymore, in fact, you have to forget about your problem here and start haunting, seeking and researching other peoples’ problems around you.
For example, one major reason I started blogging and registered this website was to help solve the problems of people I identified around me.
Many people used to come to me for ideas and solutions to different problems, the one I know, I give them an instant solution, the ones I don’t have the idea, I tell the person I would get back and use that time to make research and discover the solution.

What problem have you identified to solve?
Or what problem are you solving or perhaps, the one you would like to solve?

Problems make our lives richer. If you don’t see problems, it will be difficult to see money and you won’t be able to attract ideas to start your own business!
It’s as simple as that. As you can see, problem statement is actually broad because it’s a problem topic! Lol
In summary, your focus should be, identify a problem, find a solution to it, find buyers, sell and make your money.

For example, let’s say you’re a hair dresser/stylist, you are providing a solution to ladies/women who don’t have enough hair on their heads.
Or you offer a hair product for someone who wants to try out advance fashion; artificial hair with your wonderful hair product in a unique way. Get it now? Good!

When you can provide a solution to an identified problem and it generates cash, then, your perspective about everything changes as that process becomes owing your business. I call that a MIND SHIFT.

So, by now, I want to believe that you have identified a problem to solve and it’s time to take one more step.
Investigation in this case simply means involving yourself in a market research.
This is about learning more about the problem you have identified that you want to solve. And guess what?
By doing this, you open yourself to new world of different opportunities to discover many problems you can find solutions to or even solutions of others to the particular problem you want to solve which now gives you advantage of improving the solution and making it better than others.
For example, before I decided to write this post, I had an idea to help just one person which is you to make profits, but.
I know that, you can’t make profits without having a business and providing a solution to others problems.
So what did I do?
In other to find you and get my message across to you, I did something spectacular; I went as far as making a market research on Google, plus another keywords research tool to discover what exactly the solution you’re looking for.
And this gives me a better advantage to reach you and show you that, you too can generate ideas to start your own business whether it’s online or offline.

Or haven’t you ever asked yourself how the next neighbor doing the same business with you is making sales and selling more every day and you experience no single sale?
Instead, you’re even running at loss and your profit curve always decreasing and coming near negative level.
You also need to understand that, market research is NOT only for the big companies like Coca Cola, Pepsi, Lux, Peak milk, Gillette etc.
You too can do market research about your competitors; those who are into the same business or services with you.
Here are what you should do about them:
- Make a list of what you like about them, it can even be about the personality of the business owner.
- Get the list of what you like about their products and their mode of operations with their services inclusive. Make at least 5 POINTS.
- Do the same thing for what you don’t like about them and think of how to make your own business/services better having these data.
Market research is the phase you don’t want to miss as it can determine how fast you scale in your business.
It can also determine the ability to generate profits effortlessly as it helps by giving you a direction and clues to get to your destination faster than when you’re not spying on the market.
Let’s get into the third point.
Idea Expressions – The Turning Point
Here is where those business ideas (identified problems + results of market research) you have discovered come into process.
So, now, you want to ask yourself these questions:
- What are the best strategies you can use to integrate your problems found with the market results?
- What systems can you create for them to give you that unfair advantage over your competitors?
- How can you brake your ideas into chunks of molecular particles to be easier for execution?
Ideas are honestly handsome but effective processing is more beautiful!
So, you’re going to put all of these together and create what I call an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) which would be the solution to your proposed problem in stage 1.
Your Minimum Viable Product or perhaps Minimum Viable Portfolio if your solution offers a special technical service or you offer any soft skills like Copywriting, Video Scripting, Voice Over, etc.
What you want to do here is to come up with your mini product after you’ve processed your problem found plus the market research and you’ve also researched the solution and turned the whole information into a product (either digital or non-digital) product.
You want to also test whether your newly discovered product can actually sell, whether it can bring in 2 bucks and can even turn to a BIG money making machine!
In fact, some people who are into digital marketing can go as leveraging on others peoples’ money (OPM) and run Adverts like Facebook Ads or Google Ads on products they researched or created to see if the market will accept it before they finally invest huge in it.
The same thing you also want to do for your mini product, you know that, if 2 people use your product and it works for them, definitely, it might work for 4, 8 and 108 who has similar problem which equals lot of profits for you and this can be your turning point on your ideas to start your own business.

Customer Demographics – Here’s Your Hidden Money!
After you’ve come up with a brilliant mini product or portfolio, you want to sell off right away, but.
You need to take it cool first so you can be profitable especially if you’re using your money to run Ads and test out your product.
By now, you should have understood that, everyone on planet can’t be your prospect, in fact, not everyone on Facebook or those coming to Google to make research is your ideal prospect.
Only few of them are and that few can make you massive money if you can identify them – Target Prospects(Audience)
So, this is the stage you state out WHO exactly is your ideal customer. What is their gender, their age range, their color, their location?
You also find out what they love to buy, how and what they buy, what they think before, during and after they buy?
And lot more you can state out on your target audience.
Customers are called prospects when they have not bought any product from you or enjoyed your services before.
And prospects are also called leads inside the internet marketing space. Prospects become your customers immediately they buy anything from you.
So, the data you collect here will help for your buyers’ targeting and marketing campaigns.
And for your marketing campaigns, you must be ready to budget some money for your Advertisement.
You can also get to reach your target customers organically(FREE TRAFFIC) but, if you are serious and want to make 6 to 7 figures in your business, you must be ready to spend a few bucks promoting your product.
Also, you can use Facebook Ads, Google Ads or Linkedin Ads(if your MVP offers professional solution) or any paid Ad service you are satisfied with.
And you can try the radio/TV station near your place if you want to go by the traditional way of Advertising.
But from experience and best practice, the one that produces best result and costs less is still Facebook Ads using the digital advertising method.

Now, get this, if you want to be a great story teller to sell your products or services, always describe briefly the processes involved especially the hardest part, like the most challenging parts of the product development before the product is finally delivered to the market.
This is a powerful stuff! Try it and see.
This stage is where you use your results on Customers Demographics in stage 5 to write your compelling story for your product (MVP) promotion.
I can bet this, women are the most favored in storytelling but anyone can do this, trust me.
